Self-Pressure (2023)

15 unique photocopies made in a Xerox AltaLink C8155

Since our childhood we are indoctrinated with ideals and beliefs that fit our cultural background and political situation; “you have to be the best student, to graduate from the best universities, to buy the best car and the bigger house”. We are always on the quest of perfection, and we often forget to just have fun and let go, to just be ourselves and enjoy our existance.

Self-pressure is about that unnecesary load we put on our backs to always be perfect, pose for every picture and try to keep everything under a fake sense of comfort.

Do you remember when was the last time that you just let go and didn’t care about looking “pretty” and being “perfect”? When offered the opportunity to be playful and not to take themselves too seriously, the people around me allowed themselves to be photocopied by me, one shot only, with no expectations and nothing to be planed or ashamed of, just the self-pressure they physically decided to put in the copy-machine.
