Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

1 out of every 10 woman in the world suffers from an invisible illness called PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), many of them don’t even know they have it because it often goes misdiagnosed and because many doctors still have fatphobia on their practice.

PCOS can cause many problems, from gaining weight, growing a beard, lack of/ excessive menstruation, infertility…

And all of this comes hand by hand with social stigma, specially in a society where everyone things that being skinny is being healthy, we find ourselves constantly feeling the need to explain our existence.

I am 1 out of 10, and some times tend to bead those sorrows away.

This is a mixed-media embroidered piece, made with felt, glass beads and sequins.
